Are you a skilled painter with a passion for automotive aesthetics? We are looking for a talented individual to join our team at Gayans Auto Body as a Body Shop Painter.


Essential Job Duties - Painter

  • Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
  • Removes rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface.
  • Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
  • Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
  • Mixes paint according to specifications.
  • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
  • Paints surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate.
  • Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags and unpainted areas.
  • Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested.
  • Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Shop Procedures:

All paint materials and supplies are ordered by the paint technician and/or management.

Work orders must be provided to the technician and explained by the manager and/or estimator. The paint technician will clean, prep, and color match the vehicle. They may also refinish the vehicle per work order. The body tech or management will discuss any improper repairs with the paint technician.

The vehicle will be de-nibbed and buffed, and the compound and waxes will be cleaned by the technician prior to reassembly. Side bag filters and floor filters should be changed as necessary (every two to four weeks).

Check for imperfections prior to detail. (Dirt, sand scratches, buffing swirls etc.)

Essential Job Duties – Body

Duties

  • Perform automotive repair and restoration tasks on damaged vehicles
  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicle parts as needed
  • Utilize power tools and hand tools to complete repairs
  • Weld and fabricate sheet metal as required
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Auto Body Technician or similar role
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
  • Proficient in using power tools and hand tools for repairs
  • Ability to weld and fabricate sheet metal
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Shop Procedures:

All repairs begin with mechanical and frame measurement. All work orders should be given to the technicians. The Estimator and/or management will go over repairs with technician verbally and discuss any prior damages.

A teardown of vehicle and an accurate supplement sheet will be written with photo documentation. Receive parts: see previous section. The vehicle is then reassembled for paint. The manager will make sure that all repairs are completed and all parts are received or have been ordered as vehicle is going into paint. This will prevent delays at trim out.

Technicians will blow body dust out of the vehicle. As a reminder, all employees must keep their work areas clean and organized.

Customers will be updated through all processes.
